Welcome to Robert Toombs Christian Academy. Thank you for your interest in learning more about becoming a Crusader. We are honored to share information about RTCA’s great tradition.

Established in 1970, Robert Toombs Christian Academy is a Christ-centered, college preparatory, independent, non-denominational school that serves students in grades pre-kindergarten (three and four year olds) – grade 12. For over 50 years, RTCA has taken a holistic approach to education by providing a safe, nurturing environment so that students can concentrate on learning.

Our vision is to integrate Biblical truth into a curriculum where character, values and essential life skills are emphasized and modeled by a professional and dedicated staff. This Christian philosophy of education is not simply a curriculum which contains Bible classes. It is a manner of teaching in which students are led to make sense of the universe and their place in it by filtering their learning through God’s Word. We believe that our students should be well prepared to become successful contributors to their world. To do this, they need to understand the world in which they live. Their world view should reflect the fact that God’s Kingdom is overall.

RTCA’s academic program provides students the opportunity to take college prep,  honor, advanced placement, and Dual Enrollment courses. Co-curricular events and other programs including 16 athletic teams and an extensive award-winning literary and fine arts program provide multiple opportunities for students to explore and excel. Our students in grades 9 – 12 complete service projects each year that are meaningful to our community and school. An international trip is planned every few years for students to attend.

At RTCA we like to have fun. Several dances are held during the year. There is always something to do with your RTCA friends…and many of these students remain friends for a lifetime. The students embrace the idea of being able to wear their own clothes instead of a uniform. Each of our students is unique, and their dress style is part of who they are.

The student population at RTCA hovers between 390 and 425 and reflects the socioeconomic, intellectual and denominational diversity of the area served by RTCA. RTCA recruits for ethnic diversity, and scholarships are available to assist minority students.

Unlike many independent schools, RTCA will accept students with learning disabilities if we feel we can handle the accommodations prescribed by the doctor. Since RTCA is a private school and receives no state or federal monies, there are certain learning disabilities that we do not have the resources to accommodate. RTCA has recently implemented a Learning Services Lab to offer these students additional help. If you have a child with a learning disability, please contact our Guidance Counselor for additional information. RTCA is very open to serving these children of God if our resources permit, and it is in the best interest of the child.

Also, RTCA is in the process of starting a STEAM (Science Technology, Engineering and Math infused with the Arts) program for our Lower and Middle school students who are gifted and need more challenging work. These students will work in teams and use scientific and engineering methods to solve problems and increase their critical thinking skills as they develop hands-on projects.

An education at RTCA is a unique opportunity to experience a rigorous college-prep education but with the advantage of the core of biblical truth at the center of the curriculum and woven throughout the curriculum. It’s more than a daily devotional or a weekly chapel although these are important; it’s all subjects taught through the filter of God’s Word.

Our goal is to help each student grow in their walk with Christ as they study, understand and obey God’s Word and to help develop a Christian world and life view into their daily lives so they will impact today’s culture for Christ. For these reasons, we believe Robert Toombs Christian Academy should be your child’s education of choice.

In Christ,

Robert Toombs Christian Academy
