Senior Justin Johnson led the Pledge of Allegiance to the American and Christian flags. The congregation then sang “Say I Won’t” by MercyMe, which was led by seniors Carleigh DeFee, Katie McDuffie, and Rob Moore. Senior Austin Akins spoke about the class history and how each student came to be the Class of 2021. Salutatorian, Carleigh DeFee, then gave her speech, followed by the Valedictorian speech from Kaitlyn Reaves. Seniors were then awarded their diplomas by Travis Absher, Head of School at RTCA, and Mark Findley, Board Chairman. Finally came the tradition that all students and parents look forward to, the turning of the tassels and the presentation of flowers to their mothers. The commencement ceremony concluded with the singing of RTCA’s Alma Mater, led by seniors Carleigh DeFee, Katie McDuffie, and Rob Moore. Senior Justin Walker gave the closing benediction followed by the recessional of graduates.

“We are very proud of the hard work and accomplishments of the class of 2021. The resilience they showed this year is remarkable. For a group that had so much taken away their Junior year, they came back strong and did whatever it took to stay in class this year. We will certainly miss this special group, and we wish them well in all of their future endeavors. I want to thank the parents of the class of 2021 for their support and all of their contributions that led to a successful school year,” says Mr. Absher, Head of School at RTCA.
