Robert Toombs Christian Academy’s Shotgun Team participated in the GISA State Shotgun Tournament on November 21-23 in Savannah at the Forest City Gun Club. The RTCA Middle School team placed 10th out of 21 teams overall. The top shooter for the middle school team was eighth-grader Joey Todd, who placed 33rd out of 116 shooters overall. The Middle School team consists of eighth-grader Joey Todd and seventh-graders Bishop Lampp, Cameron Hinson, and James Varnes. The Varsity team placed 14th out of 22 teams overall. The team’s overall top shooter was freshman Bradlan McDonald with a total score of 277 out of 300, followed by junior Ashton Scott with a score of 245 out of 300, junior Carleigh DeFee 230 out of 300, and freshman Carston Tapley with a score of 222 out of 300.
Freshman Bradlan McDonald was named to the All-State team and finished with the 9th highest score at the event. Junior Carleigh DeFee brought home 4th place in trap in the Women’s Division with a score of 85 out of 100.
The RTCA Shotgun Team is coached by Lane DeFee, Sean Scott, and Allen McDonald.
