RTCA’s Lower School Student of the Month for May is Jaxson Varnes. Jaxson is the son of Beau and Pat Varnes. He has an older brother, James, who is a sophomore at RTCA. Jaxson has three does name Gus, Scout, and Mama Dog. Jaxson was chosen by faulty because he is well-mannered in the classroom. He has an excellent mind for math and has number sense unlike most students his age. Jaxson’s favorite subject is reading and his favorite color is blue. His favorite food is an apple and he enjoys playing soccer. When Jaxson grows up, he wants to be a welder.

Robert Toombs Christian Academy’s Student of the Month for May is eighth grader Elly Haygood. Elly is the daughter of Aries and Megan Haygood. She has a younger sister, Elin, who is in the fifth grade at RTCA. Elly was chosen by faculty because she is always on task and has a smile on her face all the time. She is involved in extracurriculars for the school and still keeps her grades up with a great attitude. Elly is a member of the Varsity softball team and the Middle School baseball team. She also participates in the middle school and varsity basketball teams. Elly is a member of FCA and the Chess Club. During her free time, Elly enjoys reading her Bible and spending time with her sister and playing outside.

RTCA’S High School Student of the Month for May is Payton McConnell. Payton is the daughter of Gene and Renae McConnell. She has a younger sister, Elizabeth, who is in the eighth grade at RTCA. Payton was chosen by faculty because she is a hard worker in the classroom. She worked tirelessly on her History Day project, even tracking down and interview a surviving WWII Navajo Code Talker. Payton has also participated in Leo Club projects and raised the most money for our Stride for Sight Walk. She is an excellent all-around student. Payton has participated in track and spirit cheer at RTCA. Payton is a member of the Leo Club and will be inducted into the National Honor Society this week.  After Payton’s senior year, she hopes to attend Georgia Southern to become a teacher.
