Heads of School & Administrators

Head of School
Travis Absher

Mr. Travis Absher assumed the position of Head of School at Robert Toombs Christian Academy in June 2018.  As Head of School, Mr. Absher oversees the college preparatory schools 48 employees and 350 students in grades K3 through 12.

Mr. Absher graduated from Georgia College and State University where he received his Master’s and Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership.  He also holds his Bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southern University and Associates Degree from East Georgia College and is a 2000 Graduate of Montgomery County High School.

Mr. Absher was recently the Assistant Head of School, Director of Facilities, Director of Curriculum and Special Projects at Tattnall Square Academy. He also has been teaching and coaching at various GISA schools since 2008, which include Bulloch Academy, Randolph Southern School, and Frederica Academy.

Mr. Absher and his wife Courtney have twin sons, Cannon and Cason, and are excited to join the RTCA family.

Director of Academic Affairs
Christy Smesny

Mrs. Christy Smesny serves as the Director of Academic Affairs. Mrs. Smesny oversees curriculum, academics, guidance, scheduling, accommodations for varying learning differences, as well as community service.

Mrs. Smesny graduated from Georgia Southern University where she earned a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master’s Degree in School Counseling. Mrs. Smesny also graduated from Valdosta State University where she has earned an Educational Specialist Degree in School Counseling and a second Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership. Mrs. Smesny has worked as a certified school counselor for 9 years.

Mrs. Smesny is married to Stephen Smesny and they have a son, Grayson Smesny who attends RTCA.

Director of College, Career, and Student Services
Kim Corley

Dr. Kim Corley serves as the Director of College, Career, and Student Services. In this role, Dr. Corley assists students with college and career planning and applying for competitive scholarships.

Dr. Corley has over 30 years of educational experience and has successfully worked in a variety of roles in the K – 12 educational settings including Teacher, School Counselor, System Testing Coordinator, Assistant Principal, Principal, Educational Consultant, and Director of Student Services. Additionally, she retired as the Superintendent of Schools for the Toombs County School District. She has experience working as the Educational Consultant for TQ Constructors, Inc. as she assists with the building process of new construction and renovations of educational facilities. Dr. Corley serves as the Regional Director of Student Services for Coastal Plains Charter High School and coordinates a successful Student Services program in 13 sites across South Georgia.

Dr. Corley is married to Darel Corley. They have two children and one grandchild. Their son, Tyler, graduated from Georgia Southern University and teaches 8th Grade Georgia History. Their daughter, Grayson, graduated from the University of Georgia and teaches Kindergarten at RTCA. Their granddaughter, Lakelynn, is in the Kindergarten program at RTCA.

Director of Human Resources and Accounting
Lindsey Moore

Lindsey Moore serves as the Director of Human Resources and Accounting.  In this position, Mrs. Moore handles all business operations, payroll and personnel files.  Before working at RTCA, she was employed by Darby Bank and Trust for nine years.  During her time at Darby Bank, Mrs. Moore worked in operations, focusing on electronic banking services.

Mrs. Moore graduated from Georgia Southern University in 2004 with her BBA with an emphasis in Finance.  She is married to Adam Moore, an alumnus of RTCA. They have two children, Savannah and Anderson, who attend RTCA. Mrs. Moore and her family attend The Oaks Baptist Church in Lyons, GA.

Mrs. Moore enjoys being a part of RTCA due to the family atmosphere.  She believes that RTCA has a rich history in Lyons that will continue to grow.

Director of Admissions and Public Relations
Nicole Dykes

Nicole Dykes serves as the Director of Admissions and Public Relations. In this role, Mrs. Dykes oversees: publications and printing of ads, manages the school website and social media networks, and assists with admission for prospective families.

Prior to working at Robert Toombs Christian Academy, Mrs. Dykes worked for two Atlanta radio stations within Cumulus Broadcasting, KICKS 101.5 and News Radio 106.7. While there, she was the Assistant Marketing & Promotional Director coordinating on-air giveaways, the promotional street team, working with celebrity guests and concerts. Prior to Cumulus, Mrs. Dykes worked for the Atlanta Braves on the Tomahawk team during the 2015 season. As a member of Game Day Entertainment, the team spent every home game promoting crowd participation, performing in the pregame plaza, during the 7th inning stretch and many in-game activities. The Tomahawk team also accompanied players on Caravans across the Southeast, visiting hospitals, schools, and sports stores.

Mrs. Dykes graduated from RTCA in 2008.  After graduation, she attended Kennesaw State University where she earned a BS in Communication and Public Relations. Mrs. Dykes and her husband, Chris, have one daughter, Everly, and attend Connection Church of Vidalia.

Dean of Students
Chester Proctor

Rev. Chester Proctor serves as the Dean of Students at RTCA.  In this role, Rev. Proctor plays a central role in monitoring student’s needs and achievements, organizing campus life, and communicating with all stakeholders.  In addition to his leadership role, Rev. Proctor serves as our Band Director, Bible Studies and Church History Teacher, Chapel Director, and Head Wrestling Coach.

Rev. Proctor graduated from Vidalia Comprehensive High School in 2000 and earned his B.S. in Business Administration from Western Governors University in 2014. From there, he went on to earn a Masters in Theology (MTS) and a Masters of  Divinity (M.Div.) from Liberty University.

Rev. Proctor is married to Heather and they have two children who attend RTCA, Andrew and Ava.  He pastors Smith Street Baptist Church in Vidalia and has been there since 2014.

Director of Athletics
Jacob Lord

Coach Lord serves as the Director of Athletics at RTCA. In this position, he oversees ordering equipment for teams, scheduling athletic events, budgeting and fundraising for athletics, and many more aspects of the athletic programs at RTCA.

Coach Lord graduated from Georgia College and State University where he received his Master’s Degree in Secondary Education.  He also holds his Bachelor’s degree from Georgia Southern University and is a 2007 Graduate of Brentwood High School.

Coach Lord most recently taught at Jeff Davis High School where he helped assist in curriculum planning and NCAA/NAIA compliance within athletics. He also has been teaching and coaching at various GISA & GHSA schools since 20010, which include Bulloch Academy, Brentwood School, Jenkins County High School & Jeff Davis High School.

Coach Lord and his wife Brittney have two sons, Hoke and Haze, and are excited to join the RTCA family.

Director of Facilities
Adam Callaway

Mr. Adam Callaway serves as Director of Facilities and Head Varsity Boys Basketball Coach. In this role, Coach Callaway oversees the school grounds, facilities, day to day operations, and the Varsity Boys Basketball team.

He has been the Varsity Boys Basketball coach at RTCA for the past 5 years. Coach Callaway and his team won the Region Championship in 2020 and has made it to the State Playoffs the past four years. He has also helped coach Varsity Golf and Middle School Football the past five years. Previously, he coached basketball and golf at Bulloch Academy before coming to RTCA.

Coach Callaway graduated from Ashford University with a Bachelor’s degree in Health Education. He is married to Caroline Callaway and they attend Twin City First Baptist Church.

Coach Callaway loves the family atmosphere at RTCA and looks forward to seeing what the future holds for the Crusaders.
