Dr. Cathy Mitchell assumed the position of Robert Toombs Christian Academy Interim Headmaster in February of 2017. As Headmaster, Dr Mitchell oversees the school’s 48 employees and approximately 380 students in grades K3 through 12. Dr. Mitchell is a former RTCA parent and board member.
Dr. Mitchell received her Doctor of Education from the University of Georgia where she received the Delta Pi Epsilon Research Award for her Dissertation. She also holds a Master of Education from UGA, her teaching certification from Georgia College, and a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Georgia.
Dr Mitchell received the Paul Harris Fellow of Rotary International Award and was instrumental in STC being the first technical college in Georgia to be recognized on the President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for having an outstanding community service learning program. Dr Mitchell has 36 years of experience in education as a high school teacher, two-year college instructor, college registrar, college vice president and President of Southeastern Technical College.
In addition to her professional experience, Dr Mitchell completed the League for Innovation’s Executive Leadership Institute, the American Association of Community College’s Presidents Academy, the Leadership Georgia program, and the Leadership Toombs program. She has served on various boards including United Way, Rotary, chamber, bank, church, K-12, and charter school.
Dr Mitchell and her husband, Bill, have three children and eight grandchildren. They are active members of the First United Methodist Church in Vidalia.
Assistant Headmaster of Academic Affairs
Linda Johnson assumed the position of Robert Toombs Christian Academy Assistant Headmaster of Academic Affairs February of 2107. As Assistant Headmaster, Mrs. Johnson oversees the curriculum and faculty of the Pre-K through 12th grade classes, Student Records, and assists with Admissions.
Mrs. Johnson graduated from Metter High School in 1980. She graduated from the University of Georgia with a B.A. in Business Administration in 1984, and Georgia Southern University with a M.B.A. in 1990. She received her teaching certification from GSU in 2003.
After working over 15 years in hospital finance, Mrs. Johnson became a stay at home mom. In 2002, Mrs. Johnson joined the staff of RTCA as the Business Education teacher. She became the Development and Marketing Director in 2015.
Mrs. Johnson and her husband Greg have two children, Jared (Class of 2010) and Cole. They attend The Oaks Baptist church and she is a member of the Rotary Club of Vidalia.
Assistant Headmaster of Operations
Mr. Hayne Brant assumed the position at Robert Toombs Christian Academy as Assistant Headmaster in February of 2107. Mr. Brant oversees student activities, athletics, budgeting, recruitment, Public Relations/Development, safety and security.
Hayne Brant is a native of Rincon, Georgia and a 1997 graduate of South Effingham High School. He attended Young Harris College, where he played baseball from 1997 through 1999. After a transfer to West Georgia College, he graduated in 2001 with a degree in Sports Management. He returned to Young Harris College as an Assistant Baseball Coach. He moved to the Toombs County area in 2003 where he was employed by Brewton Parker for five years, three as Assistant Baseball Coach and two as Head Baseball Coach.
Mr. Brant came to Robert Toombs Christian Academy in 2008. During the years since he arrived he has served many roles. At different times, he has been an Assistant Football Coach, Head Softball Coach, Head Baseball Coach, Wrestling Coach, and Assistant Basketball Coach. As Head Baseball Coach, his teams have played in the State Championship in 2011, as well as winning four region championships and playing several final four and elite eight’s.
In 2012, he added administration duties as he was named Athletic Director and Assistant Headmaster. He stepped away from his coaching duties in 2015 to focus on Administration and was named Headmaster in spring of 2015. During the spring of 2017, he returned to his role as Assistant Headmaster and Athletic Director and will be our 2017-18 Head Softball and Baseball coach.
In addition to his roles at RTCA, he has been an instrumental force in the GISA Athletics field. He served as the President of the GISA Coaches Association from 2012 through 2016. He has also served on the Athletic Committee of the GISA as well as the Region 2AA Secretary since 2013. Locally, he was a member of the 2014 Toombs-Montgomery Leadership class. He is also a member of the Lyons Lions Club and Kiwanis Club (began serving on the board in 2017).
Mr. Brant has two children, Trey (‘21) and Campbell (‘24), and is an active member of the Connection Church in Vidalia.
