Robert Toombs Christian Academy held its annual Elementary School Honor’s Day, Thursday, May 17, in the RTCA gymnasium.  Fifth grader Kylin Miller opened the ceremony with a welcome to family and friends. Fifth graders Bishop Lampp said the invocation and Savannah Moore led the Pledge of Allegiance.

The ceremony began by Janna Parks and Marissa Brown of Chick-fil-A recognizing these students for Winshape Scholarships: first grader Jackson McCarty, third graders Julie Edenfield, Zachary McLeod, J.J. Scott, Brody Randdall, fourth grader Mandy Johnson and fifth grader Karsyn Parham.

Third grade teachers, Mrs. Sue Brewton and Mrs. Tiffany McKinney, began the awards ceremony by awarding academic achievements to their third grade class.  Luke Smith, Lawson Mobley, Cody Smith and Josie Kight were awarded the Character Awards. Third grade students who made the Yearly Headmaster’s were: Maggie Bowers, Kailen Brantley, Tristan Toomer, Adam O’Neal, Eleanor Martinez, Billie Parker Ford, Addisyn Dasher, Josie Kight, Rylan Keene, Caiden Beasley, Kailey Dismuke, Nathan Hollis, Judith Hussey, Clayton Williams and Julia Yacovella. Honor Roll students for the third grade are Thomas Mills, Amelia Moore, Carson Raines, Leighton Williams, Elly Haygood and Anderson Moore. Mrs. Brewton and Mrs. McKinney awarded students with Academic Subject Awards in Math, Science, Social Studies, Spelling, English and Reading. Highest Average for Math went to Maggie Bowers and English went to Josie Kight. Highest Average for Science went to Kalen Brantley and Caiden Beasley. Highest Average for Reading was a tie between Caiden Beasley and Josie Kight. There was a three-way tie for the Highest Average in Social Studies with Maggie Bowers, Kailen Brantley and Caiden Beasley.

Fourth grade teachers, Mrs. Heidi Peterson and Mrs. Valerie Tapley, awarded Isaac Holton and Lily Cauley the Character Awards. Students who received Yearly Headmaster’s were: Lily Cauley, Autumn Moore, Vick Moore and Ava Grace NeeSmith. Yearly Honor Roll students were: Grayson Smesny, Isaac Holton, Samantha Greenhouse, Cayden Nance, Ella Kate Adams, Mekhia Bell and Kylie Whitney. Highest Academic Subject Awards for Social Studies, Science, Math, Reading, English and Spelling were awarded to students. Autumn Moore was awarded Highest Average for Reading, English and Spelling. Vick More was awarded Highest Average in History, Math and Science.

Fifth grade teachers, Mrs. Carrie Kennedy and Mrs. Leigh Ann Walden, awarded Jadyn Morris and Kaydence Murrary the Character Award. Fifth grade Yearly Headmaster’s were: TJ Stanley, Macy Kennedy, Kylie Acosta, Benton Page, Ella Newton, Justin Bowers and Seth Carelock. Yearly Honor Roll Students were: Gage Brantley, Meredith Durden, Jacob Sanford, Madalyn Joyner, Hannah Williams, Lily Grace Maybin and Katie Thompson. Kylie Acosta received Highest Average for Reading and Vocabulary.  Ella Newton received Highest Average for English, Spelling, Social Studies, Science and Math.

Mrs. Tracey Adams, Lego Robotics Club Director, awarded Grayson Smesny the Master Builder Award. Mrs. Donna Belcher, art teacher, presented an art award to Fifth grader Macy Kennedy, who received second place in the Altama Gallery Student Art Show and Second grader Henry Adams, who received third place in the Altama Gallery Student Art Show. The Bible award was awarded to Meredith Durden because “she is very attentive and excited about each lesson, eager to answer questions and has a positive, Christian attitude,” state Ms. Trowell, Elementary Bible teacher.

Overall Highest Academic Averages Awards were awarded to elementary school students who received the highest and second highest overall averages. Third graders Caiden Beasley received highest overall and Maggie Bowers received second highest overall average. Fourth graders Vick Moore received highest overall and Autumn Moore received second highest overall average. Fifth graders Ella Newton received highest overall and Kylie Acosta received second highest overall average.

This year, R.T.C.A. is proud to announce the Lower School Teacher of the Year is Mrs. Lisa Williamson. Mrs. Williamson taught in the public school system for 31 years and has taught Second grade English Language Arts at R.T.C.A. for two years. “Lisa Williamson is an amazing educator.  Her knowledge of curriculum, strategies for different types of learners, and her amazing energy in the classroom results in leaps and bounds academically.  Her number one focus is always her students and encouraging them to love learning,” states Tracey Adams, Assistant Headmaster of Academic Affairs
